Kephart Announces Fire, EMS Grant Funds Awarded

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dallas Kephart (R-Cambria/Clearfield) shared this week that fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in the 73rd Legislative District received state grants through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the General Assembly and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
“I am proud of the work our local fire and EMS companies do in service to our community. These grants are yearly grants our fire companies and EMS services receive for applying and maintaining compliance with the OSFC,” shared Kephart. “I am grateful for the work our fire companies and EMS services provide.”
The following list includes the fire and EMS grants awarded to companies which service the 73rd Legislative District:

• Carrolltown Fire Co. received $13,044.
• Clearfield EMS Inc. received $15,000.
• Clearfield VFD received $50,281.
• Columbia VFC received $12,632.
• Community VFD of Mahaffey received $12,220.
• Glendale VFD Engine Co. No. 1 received $13,044.
• Grassflat Fire Co. received $12,426.
• Hastings Area Ambulance Association received $15,000.
• Hastings VFC No. 1 received $14,693.
• Hope Fire Co. received $16,136.
• Hope Fire No. 2 received $14,899.
• Houtzdale Fire Co. No. 1 received $25,457.
• Houtzdale Ramey EMS received $15,000.
• Irvona Volunteer Ambulance Co. received $15,000.
• Irvona VFC received $12,426.
• John Carroll Area Ambulance Service received $15,000.
• Karthaus Ambulance Service received $15,000.
• Karthaus VFC received $12,014.
• Lawrence Township Fire Co. No. 1 received $16,136.
• Lawrence Township Fire Co. No. 3 received $12,014.
• Madera Volunteer Ambulance Service received $15,000.
• Madera VFC received $24,632.
• Morris Township VFC No. 1 received $27,724.
• Moshannon Valley EMS received $15,000.
• Mountain Top Fire Co. EMS received $15,000.
• Mountain Top Fire Co. received $12,632.
• Nicktown Fire Co. received $13,663.
• Patton Fire Co. No. 1 received $16,136.
• Pine Glen Fire Co. received $14,693.
• Reliance VFC received $12,220.
• Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. EMS received $15,000.
• Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. received $15,518.
• Spangler Fire Co. received $16,136.
• Veterans Memorial Ambulance received $15,000.
• Westover VFC received $13,250.
• Winburne VFC No. 1 received $12,220.
The OSFC manages financial assistance programs for the state’s fire, ambulance and rescue organizations intended to improve and enhance their abilities to provide firefighting, ambulance, and rescue services. To receive their grants and retain eligibility for the program, fire and ambulance companies’ paperwork must be submitted to the OSFC by July 1.
